Clivet opens new heat pump plant in Feltre
The Italian company Clivet has opened a new plant in Feltre (Belluno province), the location of its existing offices and other production facilities. This move allows the company to meet the growing international demand for heat pumps and high-efficiency climate control solutions. The new production facility spans approximately 14,000 square meters and represents a total investment of €24 million. The site is dedicated to the large-scale production of heat pumps, with a particular focus on commercial applications and the use of natural refrigerants.
Stefano Bello, Chairman and CEO of Clivet, emphasized that the event reinforces Clivet’s role as a leading industrial player in the efficient climate control sector. "The opening of the new plant in Feltre marks a strategic milestone in Clivet’s growth. We chose to invest in the area where our other operations are based to ensure the timely development of solutions demanded by the European market, to increase production capacity for both heating and cooling technologies, and to offer our customers and partners systems that combine comfort, energy efficiency, and sustainability," Mr. Bello highlighted.
The new facility is part of an expansion process involving Clivet within MBT Climate—the European division and "house of brands" of Midea Building Technologies (Midea Group). This process began with the establishment of the Innovation Centre in Padua—an international hub for research and development in the HVAC sector—which opened last summer. Operations have already begun at Clivet’s new plant, with 50 people in production and 30 in office roles, and plans are in place to increase the workforce.
The new production lines are assembling the SHEEN (30–60–90 kW), THUNDER (R290), STORM, SHEEN 130 kW, and Modular HP series for the US market.
"At full capacity, the new plant will be able to produce 8,800 units annually, doubling current capacity for these product lines. Strong demand for Clivet products in the commercial sector and expansion into new markets will see 70% of output destined for export—primarily to Central and Northern Europe, where the demand for heat pumps to decarbonize commercial buildings is steadily rising," adds Stefano Bello.
The plant is equipped with state-of-the-art, energy-efficient, and low-environmental-impact technologies; the facility is powered by a photovoltaic system comprising 1,008 panels with a total capacity of 805 kWp. This system covers 67% of energy consumption, with a projected self-consumption rate of 87%, meaning surplus energy will be fed into the grid. Four electric vehicle charging stations have also been installed, complementing the 31 stations already operating at the company's other facilities.
